    HALF DAY OF SCHOOL FRIDAY, DECEMBER 17

    Friday, December 17, is a half day of school for our Early 5's through 12th grade students as we begin the two week holiday break. The student release time for Grass Lake Middle School is 11:30 AM, for Grass Lake High School, 11:35 AM, and for George Long Elementary School, 12:35 PM. Buses will be arriving at our regular bus stop locations approximately three hours earlier than normal on this day.

    School will resume for the start of the 2nd semester on Monday, January 3, 2022.

    Congratulations to Grass Lake Middle School Principal Jeanene Byerly for being named the Region 3 "Principal of the Year" by the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association.     Substitute Teachers Needed

    Grass Lake Community Schools pay substitute teachers $120 per day for working in our classrooms. As a substitute you would be an employee of EDUStaff and will have to go through their hiring process, which includes fingerprinting, some information modules and an orientation meeting. If you are interested, go to www.edustaff.org and apply. Once you are officially hired as a substitute with EduStaff, please contact our school offices to let us know you are available and that we can call you directly to fill positions.

  • Parking Lot and Driveway Restrictions During Student Bus Times

    For the safety of our students and the efficiency of our buses, specific areas around our buildings are not to be used by unauthorized (non-school) vehicles during specified student pickup and drop off times at our schools.   • McKinney-Vento Act Homeless Services Available

    If your family is living in a shelter, a motel, a campground, a car, a park, abandoned building, or sharing a home with another, your school-aged children may be eligible for services. Click on the heading of this announcement for more information.

  • Coronavirus Protection

    While the Coronavirus Covid 19 is being monitored by our government agencies, the Michigan Department of Education reminds all of us to maintain basic cleanliness and prevention methods that include: o Remaining at home if you are sick and avoid close contact with people who are sick. o Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. o Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are unavailable. o Covering cough and sneezes with a tissue or sleeve. Provide adequate supplies within easy reach, including tissues and no-touch trash cans.

    The staff at Grass Lake Community Schools educates students in three buildings that are located in the growing community of Grass Lake.
